Abingdon and Witney College was established in 2001 as a result of the merger of Abingdon College and West Oxfordshire College. It serves the south and west of the county of Oxfordshire, including areas of the City of Oxford. It is the largest provider of post-16 education in its area and has experienced significant growth in its 16-18 population since the merger. Based across five sites the college has 2,200 full-time students and 5,000 part-time students. Turnover is c£18 million and a major capital development programme at the Witney campus is in progress. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Director to join Abingdon and Witney College responsible for managing the Finance function of seven staff and providing an efficient and effective service to all stakeholders. A broad and interesting role, you will report to the Vice Principal, Finance and Resources and develop a strategy for the Finance department that streamlines processes, dramatically improves management accounting deadlines and quality of information and supports budget holders with meaningful advice and analysis. Your core financial duties will also include statutory accounting in accordance with financial regulatory requirements, liaison with Internal and External Auditors and preparation of annual budgets. We are now looking to appoint a Finance Director to join our head office based in the market town of Thame in Oxfordshire. Reporting to the Managing Director and managing a team of two, this is a broad commercial role which will require the individual to manage the day-to-day accounting as well as provide commercial support to the MD and Senior Management for the five group companies located in the South East of England.
