The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is a good place to work. It is located in beautiful surroundings in Ascot, Berkshire and is the qualifying body for more than 46,000 construction professionals in over 100 countries worldwide. This is a chance to head up a finance department. You will have day-to-day responsibility for a team of eight people and will deputise for the FD. It is an excellent development opportunity as our Finance Director intends to retire at the end of 2011. The responsibilities of the job include: financial reporting - ensuring that the annual and monthly management accounts are produced within agreed timescales; professional Standards - reviewing financial records to ensure that they meet statutory and accounting standard requirements; budget management - responsible for preparing the draft annual financial budget for review with the FD; investment management - with the FD, maximising returns to the institute by effective Treasury Management; systems, procedures and controls – improving computer and other systems. You will be a member of a professional accounting institute with in depth accounting experience gained at a senior level in organisations. Experience of Corporate and Charity accounting is needed, as is detailed knowledge of Corporate and Personal taxation and VAT. Dancing Times Ltd is the publisher of the UK’s 2 premier Dance magazines – Dancing Times and Dance Today. Due to recent changes we are now looking for a new Finance Manager with the potential to become Finance Director within 1-2 years. As a small publishing company this will require a very ‘hands-on’ Accountant comfortable with the full range of accounting duties from raising invoices & banking the cheques through monthly management accounts to working with the Creative Director and the Board on the strategic direction of the company. The role will also include being responsible for HR and the external IT support as well as any health and safety issues. As this is a small company we will consider a Finalist or a candidate qualified by extensive experience. Critical to the role will be the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all staff, suppliers, contributors and customers.
