Job description

Part-qualified Accountant – Accounting Technician
FM Products – Savings
£19,300 to £23,158 + benefits
Swindon

As a business area, Savings has huge importance to Nationwide. We offer customers a choice of highly competitive products. But this business area’s always evolving and we must constantly adapt our products to keep our portfolio competitive and profitable. You’ll come in to provide the analysis that will support those changes.

About the role
Getting the pricing and margins of our savings products just right has been the bedrock of our business success. Making sure they remain attractive to customers and commercially profitable is an ongoing challenge. So you’ll monitor and report on the performance of our savings portfolio, with a particular focus on market interest rates and our fixed-rate products. That’ll mean using financial modelling and a range of tools to determine product contribution. Responsibility will also include the coordination of the Budgeting process for the Savings business area. You’ll be seen as an integral member of the Financial Management team and have a real impact on one of our core business areas.

About you
Chances are you’ll be a CIMA/ACCA qualified Accountant, or well on the way to becoming one. Either way, you’ll be looking to broaden your understanding of product portfolio dynamics and the key drivers behind profitability. A friendly, positive addition to any team, you’ll be someone who can quickly establish your credibility and use your commercial awareness to help drive improvements. We’ll also be looking for strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with advanced knowledge of Excel.

About us
We’re the world’s biggest building society. And, in today’s economic climate, our reputation for being open, honest and trustworthy is benefiting our customers. Underpinning it all is a commercial operation that’s keenly competitive and constantly evolving. Right now, right across our business, we’re aiming higher, thinking smarter and acting faster than ever before. And we’re looking for people who are proud of what we stand for, and who have the talent and drive to boost our performance still further.

About your rewards
We have big ambitions for our business – and high expectations of the people who’ll help us achieve them. In return we’ll offer you plenty of scope for personal development, recognition, a great working environment plus a generous rewards package that includes pension, life assurance, healthcare and bonus scheme.
