Job description

Operational Accountant

Greencore Sauces and Soups is the UK’s leading producer of chilled sauces. It is also developing an increasing share of the rapidly growing chilled soups market under customer brand.

Reporting to the FC you will be responsible for producing, analysing and reporting of key financial information within the Prepared Meals Category - Soups & Sauces, whilst ensuring the integrity of the financial and operating accounting and meeting of reporting deadlines to agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce, analyse and review the weekly material variances to feed into management accounts in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Produce, analyse and review the weekly labour costs to feed into management accounts in line with reporting deadlines including review and sign-off of weekly payroll.
  • Coordinate and prepare rolling 13 week cash forecast encompassing both receipts and payments in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare for review 8 week rolling P&L forecast.
  • Maintaining and updating the site’s Fixed Asset Register.
  • Calculation and the preparation of the Alcohol Duty claim to HM Customs & Excise.
  • Prepare and submit monthly intrastat return.
  • Produce timely monthly and annual management accounts, including posting journals, carrying out reconciliations and creating reports for group.
  • Aid the Operations teams with the creation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Support the quarterly forecast and annual budgets in relation to operational costs and balance sheet and cash flows.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover for Management Accountant and shared cover for FC.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors as and when required.
  • Member of the Lean Initiatives team. Attend weekly meetings and provide calculations of potential savings. Provide support on cost driver and potential TLC improvements.
  • Create and maintain supplier accounts in System 21.
