Job description
The Company
JTI is the extremely successful international arm of Japan Tobacco. The world’s third biggest tobacco company, we hold 11% of the global market with well-known brands such as Winston, Camel, Silk Cut and Benson & Hedges. A truly international organisation, we employ over 23,000 people across 40 offices and 30 factories. What’s more, for the 8th year running, we have maintained our status as the fastest organically growing business in the tobacco industry – meaning the future with us is very exciting indeed.
The Role
Actively assisting our General Leader team, you’ll help ensure the closing of each period end is on time, performed to the highest quality and meets US GAAP requirements. In particular, you’ll take responsibility for cost and profit centre allocations, accruals and prepayments through GRIR process, regrouping of assets and liabilities, VAT reclassification and foreign currency revaluation/translation. You must also ensure Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley (JSOX) compliance and actively support the General Ledger Team Lead during quarterly external audit fieldwork.
What We’re Looking For
With a proven track record in an accounting role, which included financial accounting, you’ll ideally be working towards a recognised accountancy qualification. Highly analytical in your approach, you’ll be highly flexible and know how to meet tight deadlines, even when under pressure. Consistently able to produce accurate financial data, you’ll be a strong team player and ideally have some SAP experience.
Please note, it is unlawful to employ a person in a UK-based job who does not have permission to live and work in the UK. You should make yourself aware of how immigration laws apply to your situation before applying for any jobs. (Refer: Home Office Website).
