Job description

Job description:

Edexcel is the UK’s largest education awarding body and a part of Pearson Plc, the world’s largest Education Services company. Embracing innovation and technology we provide the best learning experiences for students all over the world. To deliver this we hire the best people who share our values, drive initiatives and improve results.

Assistant Business Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Business Analyst to join our busy Finance team at Pearson Language Tests (PLT).

PLT sits within Pearson Education International and is a rapidly growing global business unit with complex financial requirements, operating in multiple currencies on several Pearson systems and is in the process of rolling out a new global venture.

You will be reporting to and assisting the Vice-President of PLT Finance with reporting, planning, cost control and business decision-making support, overseeing the efficient financial administration for the PLT global team as well as assisting with financial accounting, audit, tax and compliance information requests.

As the successful candidate, you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Graduate (or of graduate calibre) part-qualified CIMA.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Analytical mindset and experience.
  • Comfortable with financial systems and databases. Experience of using Oracle, Business Objects and Hyperion (Prime) systems preferable.
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. This is essential as PLT is in start-up phase and is therefore entrepreneurial in outlook.
  • Demonstrable interest in a commercial role, prior experience preferable.
  • Solutions orientated with supportive approach.
  • Clear communication skills: particularly ability to articulate complex financial information to people from non-financial background.
  • Good organisational, planning & time management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to role.

You must be comfortable working flexibly and supportively in a rigorous, yet dynamic and fast moving international start-up and confident working with people at all levels of the business - internationally, including both Internal and External Partners.

To register your interest, please send your CV by email and include a covering letter that explicitly outlines (i) why you are interested in the role (ii) how you meet all of the criteria specified in this job advert. If there are any criteria listed which you do not meet, please also include in your covering letter how you think this could be addressed (eg through training, doing extra reading/research, etc. ).

We request no contact from recruitment agencies or third party suppliers.
