HFMA Parkhill has been retained by Lewisham Hospital NHS Trust to recruit a suitably qualified individual to the role of Assistant Finance Director - Financial Accounting.
The key elements of this role will be to provide a strategic lead to financial control and statutory reporting, to lead on the management of Trust working capital, capital reporting and asset management. In addition, this role will involve all the normal elements of such a position eg production of monthly financial accounting reports and control accounts; production of monthly capital expenditure reports; capital budget reviews; capital planning and project budget setting; preparation of the statutory annual accounts and external financial monitoring returns and working with Trust Managers and NHS SBS to ensure that all financial systems governing the operation of the general ledger are operated effectively and in accordance with best practice.
Of perhaps more importance is that applicants must demonstrate a desire to ‘challenge’ the status quo. They will also be required to show a systematic approach to their work, that they know how to prioritise their workload and that they have an ability to work with their colleagues.
Previous senior management experience – significant experience -in the NHS or an equivalent large and complex organisation is essential, as are a CCAB qualification and a degree. A good working knowledge of Oracle would also be an advantage.
