Business Analyst
This commercially focused finance role will be aligned to a specific trading channel and provides an accounting, budget preparation and analysis service both on a structured and ad hoc basis. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and be an effective Business Partner.
The role works alongside the Business Analysis Accountant to support their channel to make profitable decisions that are supported by fact based evaluations.
Accountabilities
- To coordinate analysis of monthly volume, revenue, gross profit forecast and results.
- To business partner and support the BDMs with their volume and GP submissions.
- To analyse key forecast volume, revenue and GP movements and provide an insight into the reasons behind them.
- To identify performance trends and proactively seek to understand and influence these.
- To support the financial customer appraisals of new tenders.
- Assess the profitability and financial feasibility of new customers or renegotiation of existing customers.
- Evaluate the Capital requirement and the related IRR, NPV and payback periods.
- For new customers research their customer base and financial position prior to engaging into a contract.
- Present appraisals back to senior management and Trading team.
- To assist in the coordination and preparation of the annual gross profit plan.
- To liaise with BDMs in sales to deliver headline volume and GP targets.
- To be involved in building modelling and reporting as required.
- To analyse the outputs of the plans.
- To produce channel, package, customer and brand statements on a period basis.
- To report on the account and channel volume and GP results and forecasts at consolidated SKU level.
- To evaluate and make recommendations on significant business proposals and activities.
- To analyse effectiveness of promotions and customer investments.
- To support business proposals for potential new customers.
- To support customer revenue and pricing discussions.
- To coach and develop key contacts to improve understanding and capability in the use of CCE financial systems.
- To support Sales teams in use of reporting and forecasting tools eg AIM and Margin Minder.
- To help Sales teams become as self-sufficient as possible.
Measures of Success
- Understanding and ownership of channel performance insight and analysis.
- Positive feedback from business partners, establishing self as the key point of contact.
- Efficient and accurate completion of period end reporting and analysis.
- Improved volume and gross profit forecast accuracy.
Qualifications
- At final stages (ie Top CIMA) or completed CIMA or ACCA professional qualification.
- Degree level desirable.
Experience
- Work experience in a financial environment.
- Experience of working in a commercial environment, FMCG would be preferable.
- Exposure to analysis of revenue and the component parts.
Technical Skills
- PC literate (advanced) especially Excel and pivot table.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-finance professionals.
- Confidence to communicate with and challenge/influence at all levels.
- Enthusiastic and inquisitive mindset.
