Job description
We are seeking a highly experienced interim Chief Accountant with experience of Local Authority technical accounting. The deadline for applying is lunchtime, on Thursday 9th February 2012. Reporting in to the Head of Compliance, you will provide leadership to a team of finance professionals ensuring effective delivery and timely closure of the Council's accounts for 2011/12. Responsibilities will also include: addressing points arising from the audit of the 2010/11 accounts and coordinating the resulting required work; ensuring the highest professional and technical standards for the Compliance team and wider Finance Professional Services. Candidates must have operated at Chief Accountant level and be a proven professional with extensive experience of closing Local Authority accounts. You must also have exceptional technical accounting skills including IFRS experience. Full CCAB qualification is essential, ideally CIPFA.
