Job description
Reed Finance is currently sourcing candidates for the position of Chief Accountant. Reporting to the newly appointed Head of Finance you will be able to utilise your experience joining a developing Finance team and offer assistance and guidance where appropriate. Main duties: to effectively organise, manage, coordinate and control the Finance section; to ensure that all staff within the section are effectively managed in accordance with the HR strategies, including appraisals and to ensure the development of staff to deliver and promote the excellence in all areas of operation through engagement, innovation, systems thinking, communications and customer focus; to assist with the preparation of the budget and in year monitoring (per financial procedures) including control account reconciliations; oversee and provide support to the Accountancy Manager in the preparation of Statutory Accounts to ensure the latest Code of Practice requirements are met within agreed timescales and liaise with External Audit; monitoring of internal audit contractor; provide financial advice to Head of Service/Budget Managers; to oversee treasury/cash management, bank reconciliations, risk management/insurance cover, ledger system integrity and software development; preparation of revenue and capital estimates and monitoring of budgets, including the preparation and presentation of reports to Cabinet and other appropriate member forums; to provide high quality financial support and advice to service departments, consistent with the strategies and policies and accountancy and audit regulations. Successful candidates for this position will be qualified Accountants ideally CIPFA though my client is open on this. Your CV should have a bias towards local and district Government therefore an understanding of the implications that being in this environment will have on finance is essential.
