The Finance, Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting for Kerry Foods Consumer Brands Management team and to the Division. The Commercial Accountant will ensure that all commercial transactions are adequately controlled and play a lead role in implementing consistent processes and procedures across the Commercial teams.
This work is heavily biased towards management accounting, although some financial accounting is required. The reporting undertaken includes forecasting, budgeting, projections, reconciliations and accruals, and the key outputs are weekly sales reporting, monthly and annual profit & loss reporting and ongoing financial accounting. The Commercial Accountant will also be instrumental in the annual budgeting process.
The Commercial Accountant will manage two direct reports and will interface with commercial unit Finance Managers and Analysts as well as Sales and Marketing teams.
This is a 14 month maternity cover contract in which you will be taking forward the development work undertaken so far in this new function that was set up in 2011. Key Accountabilities:
- Design and implementation of consistent sales and margin reporting.
- Consolidate and validate forecasting information.
- Support and train the Sales, Marketing and Category teams in the use of common tools and processes - reporting controls.
- Management and development of a Financial Analyst and a graduate.
- Balance sheet reconciliations for commercial transaction costs (overriders, marketing costs) in liaison with the Category Finance Managers.
- Maintain and authorise LTAs (long-term agreements - discounts), Retros and customer deductions.
Previous Experience:
- Experience of working with the FMCG sector with exposure to multiple grocery retailers is ideal, although relevant experience from other sectors will be considered.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of managing & developing others effectively.
- It is essential that candidates have worked in an accounting role, and can demonstrate a good understanding of management accounting practices and terminology.
- Ideally candidates will possess some financial accounting experience.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to both produce and interpret complex accounting reports.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong relationship building skills, having the ability to influence others and ensure controls are followed.
- Candidates must demonstrate a proactive approach, demonstrating tenacity in ensuring all required data is received in a timely fashion.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellence in accuracy and attention to detail.
- Candidates must possess Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Experience of working with SAP would be a great advantage.
Qualifications:
- Candidates are likely to be part or fully qualified in accounting, ideally with CIMA or ACCA (other qualifications such as ACA will be considered).
- Candidates are likely to be educated to degree level.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
