Job description
A large NHS Trust requires a Cost Accountant for this challenging role reporting to the Head of Financial Planning. Liaising across disciplines the role is focussed on improving the accuracy and credibility of costing reports within the Trust, to support the production of the Trust’s annual costs submission and to understand and model the impact of changes in commissioning on the Trust’s clinical treatment income. You will need to critically review the current costing system, SSAPS, and advise on a possible transfer to a new system, or work to improve current deliverables to better meet the needs of users. This will include liaison with other Trusts to establish best practice. This is a visible role requiring the post holder to liaise extensively with clinical staff, and to make recommendations on improving financial control within the Finance Directorate, so it is essential you are an outgoing person with strong communication skills. A senior part-qualified or a qualified Accountant, you are likely to have previous costing experience gained from within an NHS Trust.
