Reporting to the FD you will take charge of the Operational Finance teams of Shelter.
They are seeking a driven and highly effective individual to take a lead on their financial and management accounting services, working in partnership with teams across the organisation to ensure robust fiscal controls and financial planning. You will lead and motivate a dedicated team serving a large, complex organisation. Working to cultivate a performance-driven culture, it will be your priority to ensure that information, guidance and services provided to internal customers are timely, accurate and in line with customers' needs and expectations.
With your proven track record in identifying, negotiating and introducing creative financial solutions and managing change, you will drive through continuous improvement to the service, ensuring solid and consistent budgeting and financial monitoring processes are embedded throughout all parts of the organisation.
Highly motivated, and dedicated to first-rate customer service, you will have a clear focus on developing both strategic and operational relationships, listening and responding to customer feedback, and delivering innovative solutions that contribute to the Charity's strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Accountant and possess good leadership qualities. As this role is a pivotal role within a large organisation, previous experience of working for a sizeable business/organisation where you have demonstrated an appreciation for the bigger picture would be advantageous. It is anticipated that the preferred candidate will have adopted a project based approach to their work and will have experience of being a project leader and/or experience of being a significant member of a Project team.
Whilst you will have technical expertise, since you will have two direct reports managing financial accounts and Financial Accounts teams respectively, your ability to provide strong leadership to the team and manage a variable project workload alongside regular responsibilities will be more instrumental to your success in this role.
Please note that we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to work part-time at 4 days per week.
