Job description

The new Academy for Dover will be a place where students are valued and feel safe, have the opportunities to fulfil their potential, are encouraged to contribute positively to their community and are inspired to realise their dreams and aspirations. The new Academy for Dover will be a co-educational school for 750,11-16 year old students and 200,16-19 students and will specialise in Mathematics, Computing and Music whilst providing a Specialist Unit for students with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs. The Academy is scheduled to open in September 2010, occupying the existing buildings of the predecessor school; a move to new buildings is scheduled for September 2013.

As Director of Finance and Operations, you will play a key role in establishing the new Academy ethos, leading the development of the new buildings and delivering the vision whilst working closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership team to ensure the provision of outstanding educational services and to maintain and develop the Academy as a financially strong, learner focused Academy within the Trust's objectives and policies. This vital position is seen as a strategic driver to the organisation as much as a Functional Department Head; covering Finance, HR, IT, Welfare and Estates.

The successful applicant will undoubtedly be a qualified and commercially focused degree educated Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who possesses a clear understanding of the Academies agenda. Further to that they will have experience in HR, IT and Estates management. Specific experience within an Academy and a working knowledge of SIMS would also be a distinct advantage.
