Job description
Our client is a £20m turnover division of a c£80m turnover PLC engaged in fixed price contracts within a specialist area of training and management consulting, with UK and overseas clients. A highly ‘Commercial’ Finance Director is sought to support its MD and to lead small teams in the areas of Finance, Commercial and IT; and possibly take on wider responsibilities in time. You will be charged with building the credibility of Finance and improving the quality of MIS, ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial management reporting to the Divisional Board and PLC. You will have an inquisitive and analytical mind, able to see the bigger picture, but also capable of being hands-on, rolling up your sleeves and getting into the detail as required. You will exercise a strong focus on managing the key financial drivers of the business, utilisation and cash, leading and training your teams and ensuring that appropriate processes and controls are in place and adhered to. A strong Change Manager and an experienced FD or FC looking to ‘step up’, you will have a sound understanding of project review processes and time-charging billing and controls over fixed price contracts and will be a strong communicator, capable of clear and concise presentation. Experience of a consultancy business and its foibles would be ideal, as would knowledge of the public sector. Located in the Thames Valley corridor, close to M4.
