Job description

The Company:
Balfour Beatty already has a multibillion-pound turnover and market-leading divisions in professional services, construction, support services and infrastructure investments – and we’re determined to become a truly world-class business. We will achieve this not only via organic growth in our operating companies but by exploiting our unique integrated capabilities to the full. That’s where you come in. Our new Customer Service Centre in Newcastle will pool knowledge and expertise across the Group, whilst increasing standardisation, realising efficiency savings and generating substantial revenues through delivering shared services to external customers. You will be part of it from the very beginning.

The Role:
Expect constantly changing challenges as you deliver a best-in-class financial accounting and compliance service, focusing on all aspects of ledger accounting, period end closing and reporting. From posting manual journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations to maintaining accurate master data and consolidating results, you will demonstrate your meticulous attention to detail every day and find yourself involved in all aspects of statutory reporting and team leadership.

What We’re Looking For:
You should be a Finalist Accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA) with a degree level education and extensive professional experience in a shared service operating environment. Notably, you will be familiar with leading significant teams, setting KPIs within complex organisations and meeting the differing needs of multiple stakeholders, and you will be fully capable of incorporating Financial Reporting Standards into your team’s working practices. Finally, a background in the Construction sector would be useful, but more importantly you will be highly focused on customers and results.
