Job description

Fairbridge is a national charity, annually supporting over 3,500 young people aged 13-25 to develop the confidence, motivation and skills they need to turn their lives around. Operating out of 16 centres in the UK, Fairbridge offers them a unique combination of personal support and challenging development opportunities in a safe environment.

As the organisation continues to grow, Fairbridge is seeking to appoint an exceptional Finance Director, whose responsibilities will also extend to IT, to help drive the organisation forward.

The role

As the Finance Director, you will lead and manage the Finance team and be a member of the Senior Management team. You will work closely with the CEO, SMT and Board in setting overall strategies and act as the principle advisor on all finance issues.

Taking charge of the financial management of Fairbridge you will report to the SMT and Board on budgetary variances and forecasts, maximise the cash balances through Treasury management, supervise the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure robust Finance and IT processes are in place. You will also contribute to the development of a commercial contracting strategy and to the commercial development of Fairbridge’s subsidiary for-profit companies.

As well as providing effective leadership and management to the Finance and IT departments, you will negotiate the most cost effective contracts building strong relationships with internal and external contacts.

The person

To succeed, you will be a qualified Accountant with post qualification experience driving and developing finance teams, highly motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills. You will have a proven track record of delivering a first class accounting service, including reviewing and assessing financial resources necessary to implement and deliver major programmes and projects. This crucial role may suit an experienced part-timer, whilst we also encourage applicants from the Commercial industry seeking to break into the Not-For-Profit sector. Above all, the successful candidate will be passionate about the work of Fairbridge.

Final interviews will take place in early December.
