The role:
We have an opportunity for an experienced and professionally qualified Accountant to join our Munich office to manage the Finance function for the German business. The Finance Director will ensure the delivery of accurate local statutory reporting, management reporting and that appropriate finance processes are in place to effectively support the business and track against the business plan.
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Project accounting monitoring and reporting.
- Preparation of annual budget and interim forecasting processes.
- Preparation of monthly rolling forecast.
- Cash planning, cash forecast reporting and cash optimisation.
- Manage sales billings and credit control.
- Liaise with Auditors, tax authorities, Legal Advisors, External Accountant and banks.
- Support M&A activities.
- Manage the Germany monthly payroll.
- Provision of financial analysis, review and approve ROI on business cases.
- Control the balance sheet and reconciliations.
- Ownership of financial systems and compliance with group policy.
- Define and maintain internal controls and efficient financial processes.
The Germany Finance Director will work closely with and support the CEO of the Germany business and the CFO and Group FC of the Group business.
Requirements:
Professional Requirements:
- Professional accounting qualification.
- Robust understanding of German financial compliance.
- Proven credentials in financial reporting.
- Fluency in English and German languages (written and verbal fluency).
- Positive and highly professional communicator.
- Understanding of Germany company and employment law is an advantage.
Background/Experience:
- Experience within a similar role running a Finance function in a dynamic small to medium sized business (SME).
- Experience working with a subsidiary of a UK business.
- Experience supporting sales environments (interpreting sales forecasting into budgetary reality).
- Experience producing defending and having accountability for budgets.
- Must have experience operating at management team level.
- Able to demonstrate some experience working at board level.
- People management experience.
- Demonstrable commercial appreciation.
