Finance Business Manager: Revenue Recognition
The EUEM (Europe and Emerging Markets) Corporate Revenue team is responsible for all aspects of technical revenue recognition. It is a diverse and dynamic team and responsibilities include:
- Directing and supporting day-to-day activities related to revenue recognition.
- Partnering with Commercial Finance team, Sales and Service Finance (SSF) team, legal and the wider EUEM finance community to determine appropriate accounting treatment and process for non-standard deals and contracts proposed in the theatre.
- Ensuring all revenue reserves are recorded correctly and accounted for in an accurate and timely manner.
- Providing guidance to the wider EUEM finance community with a view to structuring deals and contracts to ensure revenue recognition is maximised where possible.
The candidates' key responsibilities include the following:
- Review non-standard deals and assess risks and exposures in accordance with US GAAP requirements, SOP 97-2 & EITF 08-1 and Cisco accounting policy.
- Develop policy for revenue determination in response to new guidance, business practices and strategy.
- Adhering to standard accounting practices with regards to revenue accounting, and ensure that accounting follows the Cisco revenue policy.
- Act as a point of contact with SSF to ensure accuracy of sales bookings (product and service).
- Manage the relationship - operational and strategic - with Revenue Accounting Operations (RAO), Sales finance (SSF) and Commercial Finance.
- Assist with all revenue Sarbanes-Oxley related documentation and testing activities.
- Liaise and research with IT team for system improvements and/or solutions to data flow from web-based tools.
- Partner with RAO team to ensure accuracy in monthly reporting related to Revenue Recognition.
- Responsible for preparing documentation for internal and external audit purposes.
- Review of contracts for revenue recognition issues through the virtual approval process (VAP).
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Worldwide Revenue Recognition website.
- Preferably an ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent with solid technical knowledge of US GAAP accounting rules.
- Responsible for achieving set goals.
