Job description

Our client, a public sector organisation in Bedfordshire, is seeking a Finance Manager to lead its financial & accounting services; ensuring accuracy & compliance with all relevant regulations. This post is an exciting opportunity to play a key role both in the management processes of the department & the financial management of the client as a whole. The successful applicant will report to the Head of R&P, and have 4 direct reports to manage. Core tasks: contributing to the overall management & achievement of operational objectives; development & maintenance of systems for setting & maintaining performance indicators; guaranteeing that budgets are developed, maintained & monitored in a manner which conforms to regulations; leading development of financial initiatives throughout the organisation; ensuring that bids & claims are made in a timely, accurate manner. Requirements: ACA/ACCA/CIPFA or equivalent; excellent IT skills, esp. spreadsheets & financial systems; significant management experience; excellent verbal & written communication skills at all levels; evident experience of financial planning, strategic development, & budgeting; understanding of Local Government, especially from a financial point of view; detailed knowledge of external audit processes associated with securing bids & grants; be able to attend meetings out of normal office hours (up to 4 times per month); commitment to equal opportunities.
