Job description

Sellick Partnership has been exclusively engaged to recruit the Financial Accountant for a dynamic organisation in the East Midlands Education sector. Ensuring the efficient and effective operation of income, payments and payroll functions of the organisation, the key duties and responsibilities will include: managing a team of 8 staff responsible for accounting for all income, payments and payroll for the organisation and its subsidiaries; managing the Payments function, ensuring orders are raised promptly, commitments registered on the Finance system and payments made accurately and promptly to suppliers; providing support in the preparation of statutory accounts; overseeing any VAT matters for the organisation and its subsidiaries ie quarterly VAT return. CCAB qualified or qualified by experience, you should have substantial, broad experience of working in a financial environment including the following: staff management; VAT, in particular from within a partial exception environment; using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level (ie pivot tables, v-look ups)/excellent IT skills; ability to analyse numbers and statistics and to use these when making decisions; providing reports and management information; working with external organisations including Auditors; financially analysing and monitoring activities; working in a customer focused environment; working effectively in complex situations; managing own workload without supervision; setting and meeting deadlines; liaising with people at all levels; writing non-standard correspondence and reports. Desirable knowledge/skills: the data protection act; the workings of educational institutions.
