Job description
This Engineering & Construction Business already has a multibillion-pound turnover and market-leading divisions in professional services, construction, support services and infrastructure investments; and we’re determined to become a truly world-class business. We will achieve this not only via organic growth in our operating companies but by exploiting our unique integrated capabilities to the full. Our new Customer Service Centre in Newcastle will pool knowledge and expertise across the Group, whilst increasing standardisation, realising efficiency savings and generating substantial revenues through delivering shared services to external customers. You will be part of it from the very beginning. In this influential position, you will ensure the efficient processing of a high volume of financial transactions and documents. This will involve you in posting manual and standard journals, completing balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining accounting master data, defining control close processes and producing first draft P&L statements, so you can expect new challenges every day. Most importantly, you will inspire your team to ensure the provision of effective service to diverse stakeholders, so you will need sound interpersonal skills and real commitment to setting standards. What we’re looking for: a qualified Accountant with demonstrable evidence of CPD, you will have considerable experience in managing, planning and controlling accounting and reporting within a shared service operating environment. Equally importantly, you should be skilled in leading substantial teams, defining and achieving KPIs and solving complex accounting problems, and you will be fully versed in all aspects of performance measurement and benefits realisation.
