Position: Financial Accountant

Line Manager: Assistant Director of FSC
Key Relationships: Senior Financial Accountant, Group’s Auditors and Tax Advisors.
Primary purpose of role
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with FSC Accounting colleagues, the Management Accountants and the Corporate Accounting Controller.
Job Description
MWH currently has a position for a Financial Accountant to join our team in Birchwood, Warrington.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare the statutory accounts for all UK based legal entities (MWH Europe, MWH Programme Management, MWH UK and Montgomery Watson Asia) and ensure that all entities are audited and filed within the deadlines set by the EMEA FD.
- Prepare the consolidated MWH Europe Group statutory accounts.
- Complete the year and quarterly footnotes for UK legal entities and consolidate for EMEA.
- Reconcile the quarterly and annual retained earnings – prepare forecasts of retained earning position at year end.
- Ensure that the quarterly intercompany and intra-company balance reconciliations are correctly reflected in the books of all units so as to allow smooth eliminations.
- Liaise with MWH Global Finance team on consolidation issues and technical accounting matters re US GAAP.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts of MWH Europe Ltd.
- Reconcile all non – operational balance sheet accounts for the UK- registered subsidiaries of MWH Europe Ltd.
- Liaise with External Auditors on UK GAAP issues to ensure that accounting treatment is acceptable for audit purposes.
- Liaise with Global Tax department to ensure that all tax liabilities are correctly reflected in the books of all UK legal entities.
- Maintain close liaison with MWH Corporate Treasury function in Denver, and with the local EMEA Accountants for all Treasury matters.
Person Specification
- Qualified Chartered Accountant.
- Experience in Treasury with some knowledge of Tax.
- In depth knowledge of UK Financial Reporting regulations and UK GAAP.
- In depth knowledge of statutory reporting and group consolidation.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP.
- In depth knowledge of accounting.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Knowledge of E1 General Ledger.
- Organised/disciplined approach to working.
- Strong communication skills.
