Each country has a separate sales force & work together in the areas of General Management, Medical, Finance & Regulatory. Shared functions support the areas of IT & HR and a Shared Service Centre (SSC) is responsible for administration activities to support the shared Finance function. Both companies in the Benelux region have been growing significantly since July 2008 and the region is expected to reach the revenue target of € 118 million in 2010. The main function of the Regional Finance function is to Partner the business to achieve its objectives by optimising financial processes, providing business analytics & generally providing financial leadership.
Financial Controller (m/f)Reporting to the Head of Finance of the Benelux region this role covers both Belgium and The Netherlands so could be based in Amsterdam or in Brussels. This is a multi functional role in a dynamic business with a small workforce of skilled & experienced individuals.
Responsibilities- Perform monthly variance analysis of Actuals versus plans with ideas on improving the actual results.
- Analysis of key KPIs on a monthly/quarterly basis - these include analysis of OPEX by franchise.
- Compile & analyse inputs for monthly/quarterly Gilead corporate requests by working with operational teams & the Head of Finance.
- Assist in preparation & analysis of monthly forecasts for revenue, quarterly forecasts for OPEX, annual & longer-term planning. Work with the Head of Finance to produce & analyse Gilead’s reporting package.
- Develop a deep understanding of Gilead’s market, product offerings and customer base and work closely with the Commercial Business Unit.
- Help drive superior decision-making for Gilead in the Benelux by applying analytical and data synthesis skills to deliver key business insights.
- Partner with the different business functions and provide financial leadership to optimise profitability and performance through financial analysis of key initiatives and strategic objectives.
- Proactively identify and surface financial issues & opportunities.
- Be responsible for the local monthly close process & liaise with the Shared Service centre to ensure completeness & accuracy of the monthly accounts.
- Assist in preparation of the year end/statutory reporting.
- Have charge of the preparation & input of VAT/Intrastat returns & preparation of monthly corporate tax calculation & quarterly transfer price analysis/studies.
- Ensure financial controls are adhered to including Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
Required skills- Business Administration degree with relevant experience including experience in a US multinational company -experience with a shared service environment.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, Dutch and Belgian GAAP.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion or equivalent is essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
- Proficient in all aspects of accounting and finance.
- Strong English/Dutch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills are a must.
- Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus.
- Demonstrated success working in a deadline driven and multi-task environment.
