Job description

A Financial Controller/Commercial Accountant is required to do the following duties: product costing; bookkeeping, you will be expected to cover for people in the department as needed; budgeting & forecasting & doing comparisons with actual figures; reconciliation of accounts; inventory valuation in accounts; maintenance of fixed assets register; preparation of group reporting for actuals on a monthly basis; preparation of half yearly accounts for consolidation; preparation of management accounts; preparation of VAT returns; liaison with Tax Consultants & Auditors. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a very friendly organisation which will offer extensive career progression. There will also be the chance for occasional overseas travel. You should have had previous experience in all of the above areas and you will be a qualified or qualified by experience Accountant. You should ideally be from a large company background, though not necessarily part of a large team. You must have bookkeeping skills in addition to financial control, as you will need to cover for people in the department from time to time. You will need to be very hands-on and have a strong background within manufacturing. You must have had experience in reporting to mother/parent company and you will have had exposure to an ERP package, preferably JD Edwards. In addition, you need to be capable of cash flow management, bank payments and statutory accounts preparation. You should be able to carry out ad hoc analysis of data as required as well as previous dealings with submitting information to Companies House. You will be used to doing day-to-day running of a finance department and it would be advantageous if you have some payroll experience as this could become a requirement of the job. Finally, you need to be competent at doing costings.
