Job description
A profitable, longstanding and impressive family owned business, turnover in excess of £30m, has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller. As No.1 in finance for the professional group you will work extremely closely with the Board of Directors developing the existing reporting suite and management information to best suit the ever-changing needs of the growing business. You will have the opportunity to have input to the strategic direction of the business and be part of the senior management and decision-making team however you must also be extremely hands-on and capable of producing accurate and detailed management accounts to a strict timeframe. You will review existing procedures and improve controls whilst developing new reports to allow sales, profit, margins, cost and new projects to be best financially communicated to the board. You will have the opportunity to work with the business owners from day one and the scope to FD proper is available. As such you will need to be ambitious and driven but at a stage in your career where you remain happy to 'get you hands dirty' both in terms of producing the accounts pack and in terms of getting out into the business, working alongside the Operational Managers at shop floor/site level. Candidate will be: qualified ACCA ACA or CIMA; an experienced FD/FC or a business £10m - £70m turnover; comfortable working on site with non-Finance Managers; able to impact the direction of a business through accurate analysis and reporting; comfortable communicating at Director level; able to use Sage packages or equivalent; able to demonstrate management accounting and costing ability; an extremely exciting and rewarding challenge for the right candidate.
