Job description
A public sector organisation, is seeking a Group Accountant (GA) to manage & develop the provision of accountancy, monitoring & financial advice. It will be the successful applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the client performs its duties and functions in fulfilment of its statutory obligations. In pursuit of this responsibility, they must keep abreast of the client changing legal obligations so they can guarantee compliance. As member of the Strategic Finance Managers team, the Group Accountant will contribute to the overall strategic & operational management of the provision of Financial Services to the organisation. Core tasks: management, motivation & development the staff within the team; provision of financial support on obtaining & securing Financial resources; short, medium & long-term resource allocation; provision of general financial advice; maintenance & development of financial systems & processes; improvement of financial awareness of non-finance staff; completion of finance projects as assigned; risk management. Requirements: ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent; excellent communication skills; must be able to explain complex issues to non-finance; proven experience of financial planning, control, reporting & processes; understanding of Local Government, esp. from a financial point of view; ability to analyse & address complex issues, and then deliver solutions, within a pressurised environment; commitment to equal opportunities.
