Job description

Group Compliance & Risk Manager
Corporate Governance & Anti Bribery

Based Cumbria
c£45k-55k + large company benefits + relocation

Our client is an impressive international manufacturing business operating in the Speciality Packaging and Coatings sector. It is an award-winning, successful group with 1350 staff worldwide, 850 based at the global HQ in Cumbria, where there are large-scale manufacturing and state of the art R&D facilities. The company is committed to retaining its unrivalled technical position as the groundbreaking leader in its field, due to its continuous innovative and quality focus.

An essential part of the company’s success is due to its responsible and ethical culture; having strong corporate values, a wide reaching Code of Conduct and an adherence to legal compliance and best practice. As such, this new key role has been created to report to the CFO, with direct access to the Board, to further strengthen the control and oversight of the whole Group’s business risk management processes. This will be through the introduction of structured risk monitoring processes to ensure compliance with UK Corporate Governance.

As the Group has a zero tolerance to bribery, another major aspect of the role is to ensure compliance with the new benchmarks established in the Anti Bribery Act 2010. Additionally, you will have scope to develop this independent role as it grows and evolves, as it will include supporting management in the review and negotiation of a plethora of diverse legal and commercial contracts.

The group operates in many countries, with differing cultures and trading attitudes, you will be involved in training and gaining ‘buy-in’ of cross functional staff at HQ and at sites across the world. Although this requires a flexible willingness to travel, it is not envisaged as a major part of the role.

To succeed, we seek a bright, astute individual with the gravitas to work with Board level and third parties, with a depth of previous legal experience and/or risk management expertise, including knowledge of Corporate Governance and ideally Anti-bribery legislation. Good communication, organisational skills and a ’keen eye for detail’ are essential, as is a measured, commercial view, capable of seeing the whole picture.

We are interested to consider applicants with the above prerequisite skills from wide ranging backgrounds, which may include from corporate environments, multi site international industries, large scale B2B consumer groups, or potentially any other relevant Legal, Accountancy or Risk consultancy background.

To apply, please submit your CV to Anita Caldwell as the Retained Advisor, ideally via email to quoting reference AC10580. Alternatively send your application to RMG.
