Group Finance Director: a high calibre Group Finance Director is required to take responsibility for group-wide financial and organisational governance, for Nelsons, Europe’s longest established manufacturer and worldwide exporter of homeopathic products.
The Group Finance Director will join the Board of Directors at the Surrey head office, with group-wide responsibility for the operating companies throughout the world. The Group Finance Director will also act as a Business Partner to the Chairman and COO, and be pivotal in delivering the ongoing success of the group of companies during an exciting period of change following board approval of an ambitious strategic plan.
The Group Finance Director is responsible for a team of 23 FTE’s covering the functions of Finance, IT and Legal. Key challenges in the role include:
- Leading the implementation of an ERP system which enhances the business operational effectiveness whilst not adversely impacting day-to-day operations during implementation.
- Leading the Finance function as it develops integrated finance systems driving continual improvement to production of management information to assist with informed decision-making.
- Further developing the organisation governance structure to support the growth of the business into different international trading locations.
- Ensuring strong trademark and patent protection for the company’s new and emerging products so we can successfully defend the value of the brands and products we own.
Skills and Experience:
- A graduate with a recognised accounting qualification from ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Significant experience as a Finance Director in an independent business or in a stand-alone subsidiary of a bigger entity.
- A charismatic and influential leader comfortable operating within a niche entrepreneurial business with a hands-on and pragmatic attitude.
- The ability to understand the commercial requirements of an ambitious family-owned business and to balance that with the need for strong corporate governance.
- Technically strong and cognisant on current tax, treasury and commercial issues including international aspects and Transfer Pricing.
- Experience of the role of Company Secretary.
- Experience of managing group reporting requirements, intercompany profit eliminations & consolidations.
- Ideally experienced within a manufacturing business using Standard Costing.
- Experience of managing an IT function desirable and strong knowledge of MIS.
- An effective ambassador for the company to all outside Advisors.
- Sense of humour, imaginative; seeks to find ways of making things happen rather than reasons for them not to happen.
- Experience of raising capital in the marketplace (desirable).
