Job description

A leading North West business is seeking a Group Project Accountant to work within the Corporate Finance function. Your initial focus will be the implementation of IFRS across a group of companies. You will advise on whether we adopt full IFRS, IFRS for SMEs or IFRS for SMEs with hedge accounting, so it is essential that you understand and communicate the implications of each option on our results, distributable reserves, balance sheet presentation and banking covenants. Reporting directly to the Group FC, this is a key role which will have a direct impact on the refinancing process and you will have a real opportunity to influence policy. Alongside a high level of technical knowledge, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Whilst you will have the guidance and support of a very knowledgeable Corporate team, this is an autonomous role and you will be a self-starter who works well in a team or alone. Ideally you will have: qualified with a Big 4 firm; strong technical knowledge of IFRS; practical experience of moving from UK GAAP to IFRS; the ability to influence decision makers. Other tasks: you are likely to streamline the group in order to reduce the burden of implementation; assisting the Group Tax and Treasury Manager; opportunity to impress and so get on to the ‘Refinancing’ team; assisting the Group FC in ad hoc tasks, including corporate transactions. This is an excellent opportunity to progress in the short - medium term.
