This Group Risk & Control Manager role has arisen due to internal promotion within Devro Plc, a global supplier of casings to the international meat industry.
The role of Group Risk & Control Manager focuses on providing risk, control and financial support to the business. The role is a key part of the group Finance team and will involve working closely with multiple parts of the business and the Group Finance Director.
Based in Scotland, there will be travel to various sites across the world. Travel component expected to be about 30%.
The following will constitute the key responsibilities of this role:
- Produce audit plans on a regular basis that clearly demonstrates the audit activity required to ensure the areas of most significant risk to the business are being monitored. Establish and maintain a regular programme of monitoring to ensure that the business has effective controls in relation to said risks.
- Develop, coordinate and manage highly effective relationships with all key audit stakeholders. Participate proactively as an advisor to key management committees throughout the business on the results of audit work providing expert guidance on risk and control, building constructive relationships with management.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of best practice corporate governance and relevant regulations.
- Develop and maintain a quality assurance and improvement programme that covers all aspects of internal audit activity and continuously monitors its effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide the results of the assurance work in a concise and commercial manner that adds value and provides thought leadership to the business; to include periodic reports to the Internal Audit Committee summarising results of audit activities and the performance relative to the audit plan.
- Be constantly up-to-date with modern auditing techniques and be at the forefront of any changes that may help or improve the group's financial reporting techniques.
- Provide support to the Group Finance team when not performing internal audit work.
To apply for this role you must be a self-starter accustomed to delivering continuous improvement and change. You thrive on working in a stand-alone role and show initiative coupled with a can-do attitude, while demonstrating an ability to solve problems with thoroughness and integrity. You must possess a relevant accounting qualification with a major accounting practice and then in industry ideally with exposure to a multi-site environment. Due to the global nature of this role it is essential that you are willing and able to meet the travel requirements and secondary languages will be considered a significant advantage. You will be reporting formally to the Chairman of the independent audit committee with day-to-day reporting to the Group Finance Director.
