Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Head of Finance - Europe; a Senior Financial Controller position to sit in the Finance and Commercial function either in Birmingham or London, with travel being required both in UK and Europe. Candidates will be considered on both a permanent or interim employment basis.

This is a Senior Financial Controller role with responsibility for the financial accounting, reporting and planning of the AECOM Europe business and with a specific focus on the business outside of the UK, in central and eastern Europe.

Purpose of the role

  • To implement and deliver a class leading operations financial support model across our continental Europe operations, working with the Regional FDs to achieve consistency and commercial best practice in financial accounting, tax, and treasury matters.
  • Driving strategic finance and commercial decision-making across the European business operations, improving margins and control of risk.
  • Taking the lead on consolidation of the overall European business and the interaction with US corporate on reporting and planning matters, working with the support of the Regional FDs.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in accounting or similar finance discipline coupled with relevant post-graduate/professional qualifications in finance accounting or management eg ACCA, CIMA.
  • Experience working within a similar senior finance position within a large commercially-driven, multi-country, multi-system business operations environment.
  • Experience of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley is a must.
  • Significant experience of tax, currency and hedging operations is also required.
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making ability and leadership qualities.
  • Effective communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively in Europe and operate effectively in many diverse cultures and business types.
