Job description

A prominent cultural and educational public services organisation based in South Wales requires an interim Head of Finance. The job will involve delivery and management of financial objectives in order to meet future needs and will be a fixed term contract for approximately 6 months. As Head of Finance, you will report to the FD and directly manage a team of three senior officers. You will be responsible for providing leadership and support to the Finance department and its functions, including ICT and HR, preparing detailed year end charity and trading subsidiary accounts, monitoring and producing accurate reports, managing and maintaining financial systems and controls, as well as overseeing payroll and ensuring compliance. In addition to assuming full responsibility for the day-to-day operations and high quality output of the Finance, ICT and HR areas, you will also be expected to contribute at a senior level to provide strategic direction and to assist in the continual improvement and efficiency of the organisation. The right candidate will possess a degree in a financially related discipline and be a fully qualified Accountant with proven experience in financial management, budgeting and technical accounting. You will also have an interest in and empathy with the heritage and culture of Wales, and the Welsh language. Ideally you will have experience of working within the public or third sector at a senior or management level. You must have excellent interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills, be able to show an ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions, and demonstrate a collaborative approach to your work.
