Job description

A Head of Financial Accounting is required for a rapidly growing housing association with a turnover in excess of £100m. With plans to double in size over the next three years and with a widespread geographic focus across the south-east, this position has arisen through an internal promotion. Key responsibilities include: provide and oversee financial accounting services to all users within the organisation and external stakeholders; provide direct management and control of financial data processing services including rent accounting, purchase ledger, sales ledger, cashbooks, payroll accounting, nominal ledger and balance sheet reconciliations; work closely with the business systems department in carrying out the relevant Finance systems changes including the implementation of the purchase order processing system; provide strong leadership and direction for staff to encourage a culture of high performance, continuous improvements, customer focused service and developing effective working relationships with other finance teams and the key customers. The successful person will be qualified with a strong financial accounting and internal controls background. You will have previously held positions where staff management has been a core focus and will be a natural ‘people person’ when being responsible for the leadership and development of teams.
