Our Fund Accounting operation is currently looking for a Head of Financial Reporting - UK Fund Accounting, who will be responsible for the management of the team, activities and delivery of designated Financial Reporting and associated Fund Accounting services for clients’ collective investment vehicles.
The team consists of approximately 100 staff and manages several client relationships.
The teams are based across Manchester, London and Brentwood. The suitable candidate can be located in either Manchester or Brentwood, and must be prepared to travel throughout the UK. This role reports to the Head of Fund Accounting UK.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Financial Reporting team ensuring appropriate staffing with skills in place, to deliver required Financial Reporting services to designated clients. Plan and organise workload accordingly.
- Manage Direct Line Managers’ performance, conducting appraisals and guiding recruitment for the whole team based on longer-term objectives.
- Ensure that the planning and organising of the production of accounts and subsidiary information for collective investment vehicles is both timely and accurate, to agreed timetables and SLA standards and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards, relevant SORPs and other regulations.
- Maintain and provide regular management information on relevant aspects of team and team deliverables.
- Ensure effective and cooperative liaison with all internal and external parties relevant to team deliverables (includes clients, Auditors, Trustees and others). Manage and develop key relationships as appropriate, both internally and externally.
- Working with the Senior Fund Accounting Management, develop a strategic plan for the whole Financial Reporting function, and ultimately work to implement the plan.
- Manage and ensure that the appropriate risk control framework the risk of the team operations and deliverables ensuring required controls maintained and adherence to procedures with appropriate monitoring and reporting processes in place.
- Provide technical support (accounting, taxation, regulatory) to direct team and also to other teams/departments within fund accounting. Provide training and coaching where appropriate. Participate and contribute to ongoing development of Financial Reporting structures, processes and controls. Deal with (and represent Financial Reporting department on) ad hoc projects and specific tasks as required.

Technical Skills, Knowledge, Systems Knowledge (and associated skill level)
- Significant experience of managing large sized teams of professional staff.
- Significant experience managing within the Fund Accounting industry.
- Significant knowledge of the securities industry with experience in an FSA regulated business.
- Strong accounting knowledge covering relevant accounting standards and regulations including UK GAAP and IMA SORP.
- Significant experience of financial reporting for OEIC/Unit Trust or equivalent vehicles.
- Sound knowledge and experience of Taxation requirements for OEIC/Unit Trust or equivalent vehicles.
- Excellent computer skills, in particular Excel.
Qualifications and Training
- Professional accounting qualification essential ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Individual should have attained FSA T&C threshold competence or be prepared to attain level (required within 2 years).
