Job description
This role will work with the FD to:
- Produce principal reports and documents.
- Ensure that transactions are accurately recorded within the accounts on a timely basis.
- Ensure that suppliers are paid on a timely basis.
- Ensure that debtors pay on a timely basis.
- Develop and implement new systems and/or procedures.
- Provide Project and Development Managers with analysis/back up of actual project costs and/or forecasts.
- Provide cash flow forecasts.
Key Tasks:
- Maintain the books of account for all companies, ensuring that transactions are accurately posted and reviewing all control accounts and bank reconciliations monthly. Processing all purchase and sales ledger invoices (including residential units sales, residential and commercial rental transactions). For purchase ledger invoices, distribute copies for appropriate authorisation and coding.
- Produce draft monthly management accounts (including accruals and prepayments) and commentary for final agreement with the FD.
- Prepare CIS (monthly) and VAT (quarterly) returns for final agreement with the FD.
- Prepare Cheque/payment runs, having checked coding and authorisation of each invoice, for agreement with the FD. Prepare the cheques for signature or banking details for electronic banking. Identify the appropriate signatories and arrange for the payments to be appropriately authorised/signed.
- At year end, prepare the trial balance, draft management accounts and all supporting schedules for Auditors.
- Run the monthly payroll and ensure all taxes, pensions etc are fully reconciled and paid within the appropriate timescales.
Person Specification:
- A capable, experienced Accountant. The individual must have substantial experiences of maintaining books of accounts and draft management accounts.
- A systems-orientated individual with experience of using and developing Excel Spreadsheets – ideally to an advanced level.
- Experience of using accounting systems (ideally COINS but training will be provided).
- Organised and methodical self-starter, capable of prioritising tasks and regular deadlines, and able to work in a small team.
- Good interpersonal skills as the role will interface with every level within the organisation.
