Job description

The Company:
Balfour Beatty already has a multibillion-pound turnover and market-leading divisions in professional services, construction, support services and infrastructure investments – and we’re determined to become a truly world-class business. We will achieve this not only via organic growth in our operating companies but by exploiting our unique integrated capabilities to the full. That’s where you come in. Our new Customer Service Centre in Newcastle will pool knowledge and expertise across the Group, whilst increasing standardisation, realising efficiency savings and generating substantial revenues through delivering shared services to external customers. You will be part of it from the very beginning.

The Role:
Operating within a high volume, target-driven, customer-centred environment, you will rapidly and accurately process financial transactions and documents against some tight deadlines. In particular, you will write and maintain standard reports, extract and review data, prepare accounts consolidations for operating companies and Group Finance and reconcile financial reporting to management reporting – demanding strong analytical and problem-solving skills and knowledge of multi-currency ERP systems. Equally importantly, you will spend much of your time focusing on cash application accounting and risk mitigation, whilst playing a key role within the Management team.

What We’re Looking For:
Educated to degree level and a qualified Accountant, you will have an extensive track record of managing, planning and controlling an Accounting and Reporting function within a shared service operating environment. This will have involved leading and inspiring a substantial team, balancing the expectations of multiple stakeholders and driving forward far-reaching change and you will be ready to challenge accepted wisdoms and conventions and introduce new and effective ways of working.
