Job description
My client, a large public sector organisation, is looking to recruit a Principal Accountant. The post holder will actively lead, coordinate and participate in the provision of a strategic and statutory Finance function, ensuring that corporate objectives and targets are met. Make a positive and effective contribution to the corporate management of the authority, Finance Management team and encourage multi-partnership initiatives and community engagement. Key functional responsibilities: responsible for contributing to and actively delivering the strategic group finance plan, carrying out the work within statutory and prescribed timescales and ensuring an appropriate focus on potential areas of risk, including proposals for minimising potential liability, if applicable. Duties and key result areas: actively participating and assisting in leading the development and delivery of an efficient and effective financial management service, to effectively achieve corporate objectives; manage a team of professional and support staff, ensuring that they are highly motivated, with clear objectives agreed and associated personal development plans; present concise but detailed written and verbal reports to relevant forums, detailing progress against plan, areas of weakness identified, issues arising and agreed remedial action; ensure that services adopt effective performance management procedures and that staff and service development is fully supported through appraisal, training and development; motivate teams and individuals by providing clear direction and maintaining positive relationships with employees. You will be a CCAB qualified Accountant with knowledge of public sector accounting.
