The Project Accountant is responsible for performing daily general ledger activities and monthly closing procedures including standard calculations, account reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and tax and statutory reporting.
Although this is a permanent role which will ultimately be based in Manchester, UK, the Project Accountant will initially be based at the business unit located in Denmark to conduct project migration activities including process mapping and work shadowing alongside our Migration teams. This individual will then return to Manchester within a 3-6 month time frame.
Responsibilities for the role of Project Accountant include:
- Prepares complex account reconciliations and reviews account reconciliations prepared by Accountant(s) in accordance with US GAAP, country specific accounting principles, and SPX corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
- Maintains local chart of accounts (COA).
- Prepares judgmental reserve and other calculations, and reconciles intercompany accounts.
- Prepares tax and statutory reporting.
- Prepares monthly variance analyses for balance sheet, P&L and cash flow.
- Ensures required documentation exists to support all journal entries, calculations and account reconciliations.
- Acquires a general knowledge of the businesses served.
- Prepares audit schedules.
- Strictly complies with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Required Education and Experience for the role of Financial Accountant
- Bachelor's Degree (B. A. ) in Accounting or relevant qualifications or equivalent.
- European Languages - preferred, ideally Danish (plus proficiency in English).
- Proven experience within general ledger accounting.
- Project accounting experience.
- Knowledge of Danish accounting.
Preferred Education and Experience for the role of Financial Accountant:
- CIMA (UK).
- SAP experience.
- Operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
