Job description
Our client, a household name Retail group, seeks an ambitious Financial Controller to manage the Finance function for the whole of the UK and Ireland. The candidate will be responsible for a team of over 20 finance staff, including taking final responsibility for technical accounting standards such US and UK GAAP and all statutory and management reporting. The thrust of the role is in leadership, ensuring goals are set and prioritised across the function and with other parts of the business. Participating in the senior management group, the candidate will contribute to and implement strategic changes while ensuring that ongoing period-end close processes are handled efficiently, communicating results to the EMEA Controller and finance leadership to facilitate understanding at management level. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Accountant with relevant experience in a dual GAAP environment in the retail or FMCG sectors. Crucially, they will be experienced in and comfortable with managing a medium sized team, improving processes and providing direction across the function. Similarly, they must be able to build and manage relationships locally, across the corporation and externally.
