Job description

Our client is a high growth JV partnership between the Abu Dhabi Government which is providing substantial investment capital and a major Western Energy business that is providing technical expertise and management. The business has aggressive growth targets but wants ensure it embeds a ‘blue chip’ controls and assurance mentality throughout the organisation as it expands. The business is determined to be seen as a ‘best in class’ organisation in all areas of operation. The Risk Manager will be part of a small but high calibre team of specialists reporting to the Head of Risk Management. This individual will work closely with the operations to improve the understanding of risk management concepts and facilitate the risk assessments. The Risk Management team will also play an integral role in change management activities by providing project assurance to the Board and helping to identify practical control solutions for the project teams that can be independently validated by the Internal Audit function. This role will require a high calibre individual with previous experience of best practice risk management techniques gained in UK PLC environment. The preferred candidate is also likely to have some experience of operating in ‘Big 4’ consulting environment. Previous experience of working in an energy related sector or a tangible product environment will be highly beneficial as this experience will help the individual to move on within the organisation in the longer-term. The position will require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decision-making at the Main Board level.
