Job description

Grafton Banks Finance is currently recruiting for a Risk Manager with detailed working knowledge of Solvency II, for a well respected and instantly recognisable insurance company near Reigate. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, this role will either be a 12 month fixed term contract, or ideally, a more permanent fixture. The main purpose of the role will be to ensure that appropriate documented systems and controls are in place to maintain an effective management framework. In addition, for the role of Risk Manager you will also be responsible for designing, developing and managing risk management tools and processes, to achieve and maintain compliance within regulatory requirements. Some of the challenges lying ahead for the successful candidate include: understanding the complexities of the Solvency II directive, relating in particular to the risk management function and to the relationship between risk assessment and capital management, in order to translate into workable business focused solutions; providing proportionate and fit for purpose advice to the business taking into account the nature, scale and complexity of the group of companies; influencing senior management to ensure appropriate consideration of risk matters in day to day business activities. The ideal candidate will either be educated to degree level or possess an equivalent relevant professional qualification. Good working knowledge of Solvency II and its implications for risk management are essential whilst broad risk management experience gained within a Financial Services or Insurance sector will prove to be extremely advantageous. Excellent analytical and communication skills are also a must, coupled with substantial project management experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a career in an industry respected company and for your experience and knowledge in the above you will be rewarded with a competitive salary & benefits package.
