Job description

Senior Accounting Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the Statutory accounts for Expedia’s French Leisure entities and Expedia.com Limited - the UK company.
  • Key liaison with External Auditors, coordinating the collection of all data and explanations requested, preparing the audit file to support these - the primary contact for audit queries for France and UK.
  • Review of monthly P&L and balance sheets, per company, prior to close – to ensure these are as expected and to assist the Corporate Accounting team in identifying errors or omissions.
  • Work with Management and FP&A colleagues on variances, trends and issues, performing data mining to identify and explain variances.
  • Work with Tax team on any VAT or corporation tax issues relating to Expedia’s French and UK Leisure entities.
  • Process improvements – determine and implement where process improvements within the month end cycle can be used to increase efficiency and reduce hours. Streamline processes and utilisation of resources in order to create maximum productivity.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley compliance – ensure all Sarbanes-Oxley controls are maintained and adhered to.
  • Managing a Senior Accountant, responsible for assistance with statutory accounting matters and social tax compliance for Expedia’s French Leisure entities.
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications

Language:

  • French and English essential, additional European languages advantageous but not essential.

Education:

  • Qualified in either ACA, DECF/DESCF or DCG.
  • CIMA or equivalent desirable.
Experience:
  • Demonstrable Accounting experience required.
  • Knowledge of French GAAP essential and UK GAAP preferred.
  • Experience if working on French entities.
  • Extended knowledge French Social Taxes/Charges.
  • Top 4 audit firm experience.
  • Working knowledge of ETAFI package would be an advantage.
  • Experience of managing people desirable, but not essential.

Systems:

  • Experience with Accounting software package (ie Peoplesoft) a plus.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel (especially pivot tables), Word and Outlook are required.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will have frequent interaction with management, other professionals, both finance and non-finance, and external partners. This individual must be a self-starter and confident in his or her own skill-set and knowledge, with the ability to handle multiple and diverse projects simultaneously. They should also be proactive, capable of working without direct management and forward looking.
