Job description

This is a key role within the Taxation team, to ensure that the our client's group companies within the UK comply with all current corporation tax legislation, which are relevant to the fiscal regimes in which they operate (under both UK GAAP and IFRS). The role is also to support the Head of Tax with tax planning and advisory services to minimise and defer tax liabilities. The role reports to the Finance Control and Tax Manager and will involve exposure to Zone and Global Tax teams and the teams in Europe. Qualifications, skills and experience required in the role: qualified tax professional (or qualified by experience), with a strong track record of working in a tax team; thorough understanding of tax accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP; knowledge/experience of dealing with transfer pricing; experience of dealing with HMRC; strong technical knowledge of corporation taxation; proficient software skills (Excel, accounting packages, Alphatax); experience of payroll taxes; good attention to detail manage UK and overseas corporation tax (in relation to the operations of the UK & Ireland Group), ensuring all returns and payments are accurate and on time; dealing with all fiscal authority audits relating to corporation tax; provide tax charge calculations for inclusion in UK and IFRS reporting packs which are accurate and timely; provide tax advice and tax charge calculations on all project appraisals, where appropriate, with a view to tax minimisation and correct post tax evaluation; to provide accurate tax charge and cash flow forecasts for business plans as required; prepare and file CT61 returns for UK group; to ensure robust application of corporate tax policies; to prepare payroll tax information (P11ds and share options).
