Job description

The Trade Accounting group requires a Trade Accountant (Contractor) to carry out accounting and related tasks for the trading business. Responsibilities: the list below is an indication of how the role could develop and is by no means exhaustive; intercompany reconciliations - reconciling and agreeing the intercompany balances; investigate trading system vs. accounts differences ensuring they are resolved before the following close; booking month end journals as required; analysing entries in the trading system, liaising with front office staff to rectify any that are non compliant; assistance in the month end trade accounting closing process and review of valuation of trades in accordance with IAS39; liaison with UK, US and Singapore staff; ad hoc tasks as required (eg working with Auditors at year end, responding to requests for information from internal stakeholders etc). Skills/qualifications required: the successful candidate will be educated to degree level (2:1 and above); fully qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA or have passed their exams and waiting time qualification (Big 4 background advantageous); keen interest in the commodity markets; strong technical IFRS knowledge (IFRS 7/IAS 32/39 advantageous); strong IT skills, in particular Excel.
