Job description
This international business is seeking a talented Financial Controller to join the business on a 12 months fixed term contract basis. Your remit is to own the Business planning and reporting process for UK Commercial, and to communicate details of business unit performance against budget/forecast and last year. The role has a secondary focus on driving the return on trade and marketing investment agenda, and being the Finance lead on ad hoc projects. Key duties: period end reporting; liaise with sales and marketing to understand and communicate the business unit’s performance; ensure that UK Commercial controlled balance sheet accounts are correctly stated; annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting; develop and communicate the budget/forecast timetable; satisfy Group Finance’s reporting requirements; produce budget and forecasts of stock, debtors and accruals figures; ‘ work with Customer logistics to ensure that our systems give accurate stock figures, old stock or out of date stock is provided for, and that other stock issues (eg with subcontractors) are resolved; control a £6.5m overheads budget, ie producing budget and forecast of spend for year (in consultation with budget holders); communication of actual spend against forecast to budget holders & challenge to ensure that spend is correctly classified and within agreed limits. Candidate requirements: qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA); good technical accounting and financial analysis - ability to identify, investigate and resolve financial issues; advanced PC skills and prior exposure to ERP systems; experience working with senior non-financial Managers; a good communicator - can explain financial performance to a wide audience; previous exposure to FMCG or a sales and marketing led business.
