Chinese football sponsor demands refund The company which sponsored the national football team of China is demanding a full refund on their money following the team's performance in the Beijing Olympics.

Infront Sports & Media, the Swiss company who paid £835,000 to sponsor the nation's team, is striving to receive a full rebate on its investment.

Qianlong News reports that the Chinese men's football team only scored one goal in the three matches it played and was eliminated early on in the competition.

The Chinese Football Association is not commenting on the subject, however an insider is reported to say the request is "being considered".

A spokesman for Infront told the newspaper: "It's reasonable for us to raise the issue. The Chinese team was eliminated at the beginning of the group competition, which left our advertising and budget plans in a mess.

"The request is really due to the team's poor performance."

In other news, West Ham United may have to find a new sponsor after the club's current backer, holiday package firm XL, went into administration.
