Retaining finance personnel 'a great concern' Retaining finance staff is a big headache to finance leaders in the UK, according to a new study.

The report by recruitment consultants Robert Half, entitled What's Keeping UK CFOs Awake At Night, found that 70 per cent of respondents said that retaining key finance personnel was "their greatest concern".

Online Recruitment reports that both attracting skilled staff and keeping current employees productive were cited as causes of concern, highlighted by 66 per cent and 54 per cent of the 200 finance leaders questioned.

Phil Sheridan, managing director of Robert Half, told the site that companies are "continuing to compete" in attracting and retaining "highly skilled professionals".

"In today’s economic environment, businesses are focused on retaining their best people because they need them to weather the downturn," he added.

Jan McQuaker, regional director at recruitment specialists Hays, has said that a number of opportunities for finance professionals exist in the local government, education and other public service sectors.
