
There has been a reduction in the number of new businesses opening bank accounts in Scotland.
In news which may interest accountants and finance workers in the country, figures from the Committee of Scottish Clearing Bankers found that 5,465 new businesses opened bank accounts in the three months to June30th.
According to The Scotsman, this figure was down 35 per cent year-on-year from 8,365.
The report also found the only industry sectors which were found to have grown was insurance companies and pension funds.
Colin Borland, from the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland, told the newspaper: "Given the current economic climate, it's little wonder that people are less likely to take the plunge."
A recent report by recruitment consultant Robert Half found that 70 per cent of finance leaders in the UK class retaining key finance personnel as "their greatest concern", online recruitment reported.
