Big 4 accountancy services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has confirmed it plans to hire 2,000 graduates in China over the next year.
In an interview with Reuters, Frank Lyn, China markets leader of PwC said that the company was planning to hire and train people at a similar rate over the next five to ten years.
He added that it takes around three to five years for a graduate to reach the level of senior associate with the company.
According to the Daily Telegraph, a spokesman explained: "China is a very important and rapidly growing market for us and revenues there grew 23 per cent last year. As our business continues to grow it is essential that we recruit the best and brightest people."
Currently, PwC has around 11,000 employees across the country, although other firms such as Ernst & Young, KPMG and Deloitte are following suit with expansion plans.
It has recently been said that accountants will benefit from the economic downturn as more people with accountancy skills will be needed to deal with mergers and financial fall-outs.
